Stickman Hook: one button, one rope and a finish line
Stickman Hook comes from Madbox, the French studio behind a run of simple mobile hits, and it went from phones to the browser because the idea needs nothing but a button. A red stickman drops in on the left of the level. Hooks hang in the air along the way, and the one nearest to him is marked with a dashed ring. Hold the mouse button, Space or your finger and he shoots a rope to that hook and swings; let go and he flies. The level is won the moment he crosses the checkered line on the right.
That is the whole control scheme, and it is enough, because the physics does the rest. The rope pulls him in a little when it catches, so a hook grabbed from far away swings harder. Letting go on the way up throws him forward and high; letting go on the way down drops him short. White pads on the floor and walls bounce him back into the air, some levels add blocks that stop a swing dead if he clips them, and falling off the bottom of the screen or back off the left edge starts the level again from the spawn point. There are no lives and no timer — just an attempt counter and the bar at the top that fills as he gets closer to the finish.
The first levels are hand-built to teach the timing. After those come thirty set pieces stitched from start, middle and finish sections, and after that the game keeps building new levels from those parts at random, so it does not end. The counter on the menu always shows the next multiple of five as a target. Costumes unlock on the way: a Plant at level 5, a Mummy at 10, then Angel, Evil, Rainbow, Thug, King and finally SuperStick at level 150, with a row of extra skins in the shop and a Halloween edition that has its own eight.
Controls & mechanics
| Action | Control | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Grab a hook | Hold left mouse button / Space / touch | The rope goes to the nearest hook, the one with the dashed ring; you cannot pick another |
| Let go | Release | The stickman keeps the speed of the swing; release on the way up to fly forward |
| Restart level | R | Respawns at the start of the level and adds one to the attempt counter |
| Pause / resume | Esc or the pause button | Freezes the level; click outside the menu or press Esc again to carry on |
| Next level / equip skin | Space on the menu | Starts the next level from the title screen and equips a new skin from the unlock popup |
How to get through the hard Stickman Hook levels
- Let go on the way up: The best release point is just after the bottom of the swing, while the stickman is rising and moving forward. Let go at the very top and he falls straight down; let go on the downswing and he shoots into the floor.
- Grab late for a bigger swing: The rope catches the hook at whatever distance he is from it. Waiting until he is further past or below a hook gives a longer rope and a wider arc, which is how you clear the long gaps.
- Use the bounce pads on purpose: The white pads throw him back up at the angle he hit them. Falling onto one from a high release is often faster than trying to reach the next hook directly.
- Watch the ring, not the stickman: The hook you will get is always the one with the dashed ring. If the ring is on a hook behind you, wait a moment until it jumps forward before you press.
- Press R instead of waiting: A bad swing that is not going to make it will still take a few seconds to fall off the screen. R restarts immediately, and the level starts the same way every time.
Key features
- A level list that never ends: Hand-built opening levels, thirty curated combinations of start, middle and finish sections, then new levels assembled from those sections at random.
- 35 skins: Ten earned by finishing levels (5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 75, 100 and 150 among them), eleven from the shop, eight Halloween and six Christmas costumes.
- Halloween edition: A second copy of the game on this site with orange dusk backgrounds, bone confetti at the finish and the Halloween shop row switched on.
- Progress saves itself: Your level, your equipped skin and every skin you unlocked are kept in the browser, so the game picks up where you stopped.

Pro tip: On long gaps, do not grab the next hook as soon as the ring reaches it. Let the stickman fall a little further first: the longer rope turns into a wider, faster swing and a much bigger throw when you let go.
